Peter Oborne task

This is an invaluable EX, furnishing multiple opportunities for extended EAA and incorporation of T...

AIMS:
Advance familiarity with style/nature of exam Qs
Update EX
Develop research skills, specifically skim reading and extracting key points with limited time
Make links between a single EX and wider EX/EAA whilst applying T
OBJECTIVES:
Read/make notes on Oborne case
Identify themes this touches on
Consider application to various exam Qs
Write up 2+ paragraphs applying learning

STEP1: FACT-FINDING + NOTING VIEWS/ARGUMENTS
Using the post Advertiser power and Daily Telegraph HSBC scandal, make a note of the key facts on this case. Include some initial notes on arguments/views you encounter. Keep notes brief; you can return to the source later for more detailed notes as need be.
STRATEGY: Prioritise skim reading several articles over detailed annotation of any one article to gain a wider perspective. Look for headlines that seem to indicate conflicting points of view.
TIME: 10 MINS

STEP 2: BRAINSTORM 'ISSUES' THIS LINKS INTO
You will shortly have further time to revisit and read other articles.
Spend 2-3 mins yourself noting any possible wider issues or themes you think this case can help tap into. We will spend 5+ mins compiling a list.
TIME: UP TO 10MINS

STEP 3: LINK TO EXAM Qs
Re-read the list of past exam Qs. You will each be allotted some of these. Your task is to note (in bullet form) how you might use this case to contribute to an essay response for each Q. We will compare notes, discuss the style of exam Qs and seek to expand the earlier issues/themes list.
TIME: 10-15 MINS

STEP 4: SPIDER DIAGRAM/PARAGRAPH OUTLINE
Using whichever style you prefer, but keeping points brief, develop at least two spider diagrams/bullet lists summarising how you would apply this EX for any exam Q of your choice.
TIME: 10MINS

STEP 5: WRITE/TYPE UP 2+ PARAGRAPHS (complete for homework if necessary)
You would benefit from trying more, but now write (or type) up two complete exam style paragraphs, using your chosen exam Q as a heading, seeking to apply extended EAA, EX and T.
TIME: UP TO 5 MINS BEFORE LESSON END (TIME TO REVIEW)
